(Title is a reference to To Kill a Mockingbird, tell me what you two think! William Iridia )
(This is also told from the MountainView Pack perspective, so it's going to be a little biased, actually a lot biased. If Iridia would like to write up what the story is for her pack to be motivated to fight, then so be it.)
Holo smiled at the young pups among her, "Would you all like to hear a story?" Not caring if they responded or not, she went on.
"Before the start of the war between the wolf and fox packs, there was a time of peace. The could pass each other and not have to worry about the other attacking. This was the time known as the Great Peace. A time that the young Alphas, before they became Alphas of course, had a beautiful young romance. They'd sneak away from their parents and pack's eyes, going to the one Neutral zone between the two packs, a city about 10 to 20 miles away from both packs' territories.
"The romance between the two continued, but tensions and rumors started to spread about the two. One very specific one was that Iridia was stealing information from Tyler, and vise versa. The two stayed strong, not believing the rumors. But the more their packs talked, the more it seemed the two doubted each other. Tyler started to question Iridia when she'd show up late, and Iridia did the same to him. They'd get into fights and soon Tyler called it off. Iridia was heart broken. More than just heart broken, she was furious.
"Iridia's father would do anything to make his daughter happy. Iridia said once that the only thing that could make her happy was if Tyler learned what the pain of losing something you love was like. So the alpha and his Luna devised a plan, one that would change everything that either pack knew. The plan to murder the alpha and Luna of MountainView Pack." She paused for dramatic effect.
Once she knew that she had everyone's attention, she continued the story of that started it all. "They devised a plan to draw our alpha and Luna out into the open, in the dead zone between our two packs. They had two of their fastest runners catch the grass on fire, causing a big distraction, one that caused a large amount of our pack to go and investigate. Little did our pack know that once they got there, that most of SilverLake's strongest warriors, greatest archers and fastest scouts were waiting for them to show up. Waiting to pounce and kill everyone in their path." Another pause, but this time to get a drink for her throat was getting a little dry from telling the story.
Once she set the drink back town, she continued. "After a couple of hours of fighting, our pack had lost many people, but the worst of it all was the death of our Alpha and Luna." She said, starting to choke up a little over the story, remembering it as if it were yesterday.
"But, we weren't the only ones to suffer a tragic loss. During the battle we managed to take out quite a few of their warriors and archers as well. But their alpha and Luna still lived. Until, that night, while the SilverLake pack was celebrating their triumph, drinking, dancing, and full out partying, someone had caughten fire to the bar they were celebrating at. Everyone raced for the exit, well almost everyone. The alpha and Luna stayed back, searching each other since they were not together when the fire started. In their search for each other, they got caught in the fire, burning alive, never finding their mate to know if they made it out alive."
"That my dear pups, and friends who i know who are listening, yes i see you, is how the war began. Both of the Alphas and their wives dying, that was the breaking point for the start of the war. Both Alphas were coronated on the same day, right after their parents funerals, which ironically, were held on the same day."
